I have done genealogy for over 30 years. It takes dedication, research, time, and did I mention research and research?
In a way you become your own detective. Weaving facts together, guesstimating until you finally find the actual fact that confirms your gut instinct. You spend countless hours combing through old books, papers, and online sites looking for that one clue, that one word.
As any genealogist can tell you no matter how long or how many facts you pin together to complete your tree which literally becomes a forest you will never be done. There is always something else to find.
But even knowing that when do you finally say, 'I think it is time to write a book on my research?' Once that question is answered the very next one is 'How do I start?'.
That is where I am today. I want to write down what I have pieced together in a book that I can publish and share with my family. This is one of my projects this year for Blue Coconut Publications and I hope you all will enjoy my journey as I plan on sharing my frustration, achievements, and aha moments throughout the year.
